Music has played a central role in Carly’s life from a very young age. Her earliest musical memories include attending music classes with her mother as a toddler, where she particularly relished any opportunity to pick up a drum and play along to Postman Pat! Her primary school nurtured this early enthusiasm, encouraging her to join the recorder club and later audition to learn the violin. It was here that a lifelong passion for music truly began.

Carly progressed quickly through her instrumental grades and became a member of the County Orchestras, giving her the opportunity to perform extensively both in the UK and internationally. Throughout her performing career, she has played in some remarkable venues, including the Royal Albert Hall, and has enjoyed a wide variety of professional musical experiences, including performing live on stage with Kanye West in front of thousands of people.

Following her studies at Birmingham Conservatoire, Carly began teaching with the Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Service (now Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust), where she developed a successful career in music education alongside her work as a violin teacher.

Her role at St Peter’s School has enabled Carly to combine her passions for music, education and modern foreign languages. She has embraced a variety of roles within the school and is passionate about creating opportunities for children to experience the joy, confidence and sense of belonging that music can bring.

In 2025, Carly’s contribution to music education was recognised when she received the Most Inspirational Music Teacher of the Year award for her work at St Peter’s School. The award recognised her dedication to inspiring young musicians and developing a vibrant musical culture within the school community. It remains one of the proudest achievements of her career and reflects her belief that every child should have the opportunity to discover and develop a love of music.
