  • I hope that you are all looking forward to tomorrow’s Founders’ Day. To assist the smooth running of the day I would like to take one more opportunity to give you details of the schedule for the day:
  1. The morning drop-off will operate from 9.30am.  This later start allows staff to prepare the marquee.  Children can be dropped off with staff at The Crescent gate, allowing parents ample time to find suitable parking.  You are welcome to also drop off your labelled picnic hamper, which will be stored in a cool area of the School and brought up to the marquee for you after the Prize Giving ceremony.
  2. Children should be in smart St Peter’s summer school uniform (including polished shoes!) with long hair tied back.
  3. Pupils will be supervised in the playground until 9.45am when the bell will ring.  Registration will then take place in classrooms.  Children will be led by teachers into the marquee ready for the ceremony's start at 10.30am.
  4. You will be able to enter the marquee from 10.10am.  If you arrive earlier then you are very welcome to wait in the School grounds.  However, in the case of inclement weather, you are advised not to arrive before 10.10am, as providing shelter for large numbers of parents would be difficult.  Your co-operation in this would be greatly appreciated.
  5. In the event of poor weather the plan is for the marquee to be used by families that would still wish to go ahead with the picnic, and chairs would be stacked quickly in order for this to occur.  It would be simply glorious if the sun shone, allowing families the opportunity to sit together and enjoy the School grounds.  Please note that barbeques are not permitted.  It is expected that picnic time would run from approximately 12.30pm.
  6. There is an opportunity from 2pm for families to look around both of the School buildings.  Whilst we have had two ‘share your work sessions’ this year, there has not yet been an opportunity for parents to look at the work and wall displays of pupils in other year groups, so it is hoped that many of you will want to take advantage of the Open Afternoon.  Tea and cold refreshments will be available from 2.30pm until 3.30pm in Sunnylands Hall.
  7. The Founders’ Day Disco will start at 7pm and will end at 10pm.  Tickets are available from the School Office.  The evening is part of our ‘school family’ celebration, so it is for parents and pupils.  All children attending the disco must be under the care of an adult at all times.  Please also ensure that if your child plays out in the School grounds or on the adventure playground he or she is supervised at all times.  I am sure that the children will not need to be reminded that they can wear their ‘party’ clothes to the disco.  There have been many who have been planning their outfits for some time, I am sure.
  • Whilst this seems to be a list of do’s and don’ts, above all I really hope that we all have a great day together!

  • Last week’s Key Stage Two Summer Games Day was won by Thorpe.  The previous week brought victory to Rutland who won the Sports Day trophy.  The overall House Sports Cup will be awarded tomorrow; so many pupils are awaiting this news with some anticipation.  The receiving House for the Conway Cup for stars will also be announced at Founders’ Day.

  • Northamptonshire County Cricket Club has invited a team from St Peter’s to take part in a mini tournament involving other schools in the county.  On the same day there is a match between Ex-Northamptonshire 11 and Old England.  Mr Kinsella is getting very excited at the prospect of our pupils playing in the company of such greatness!

  • Next week is the last week of Summer Term and there are plenty of activities for the children to look forward to.  French Day takes place on Monday, and on Wednesday children in Years 3 to 6 are off with their teachers on a trip to the Black Country Museum.

  • Finally, I would like to extend my gratitude to you all for your support of this year’s PTAFA.  At last week’s meeting the committee made the decision to resurface one of the School’s tennis courts, to accompany the improvements the School will be making to the other court.  Both courts will also be marked out for netball and the work will take place over the summer.  I am really looking forward to our children benefiting from this development, and I hope that there will be an opportunity for parents to also use this facility.
