21st April 2005 - Our netballers celebrated a win in their match against Millbrook on Tuesday. The extra effort they put into training following last week’s heavy defeat against Broughton certainly paid off. With their confidence fully reinstated, today’s game against St Mary’s will be a suitable challenge for our girls.
- Years 1 and 2 enjoyed their Games Day on Monday. Some super goals were scored, leading our teachers to consider their goalie skills needing further practise!
- Support for the School’s participation in collecting Tesco and Sainsbury school equipment tokens has really been terrific so far. Thanks to you all for collecting and sending these into us. The schemes still have some time to run, so please do ‘keep them coming in’.
- Today Rev Jenny led our whole School assembly, and told pupils the story of St George. Mrs Margaret Holman, Head of Bishop Stopford will be giving the evensong sermon at the Parish Church of Saints Peter and Paul this coming Sunday at 6pm. Its theme will be the role of Christianity in schools.
- Parents are kindly requested to ensure that once children have been collected at the end of the school day they are under full parental supervision whilst on site, and are not ‘running free’ and out of sight. This can certainly be a parental challenge at the end of a school day that has been firmly structured! It does however reinforce the more formal expectations of behaviour expected at School.
- Thanks to the many parents who have returned their reply slip indicating their intention for Monday’s ‘share your work’ session. If you have not yet passed this to your child’s teacher, please do so by tomorrow. If you are unable to locate the reply slip then please just inform us by way of a short note. There will be another opportunity to view your child’s work during the afternoon of Founders’ Day, on 8th July
- The intention is to provide parents with the dates of next academic year’s ‘share your work’ sessions at the very start of the year, in the hope that this will give ample time for work schedules to be rearranged. Logistically because there are so many after school clubs running, and we are a smaller school with therefore a smaller staff, it is not easy to offer individual times for ‘share your work’ opportunities to parents who cannot make the scheduled times. Additionally, the pupils enjoy the social experience of being all together and showing their work off at the same time.
- Please note that jewellery promoting charitable causes, including bracelets, should not be worn to School by pupils, as it is not part of our School uniform.
- The Foundation and Key Stage One Summer Concert will take place on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th May, at 10am. A letter to parents of children in this part of the School giving further details of ticket purchase and costume requirements will follow. It is hoped that this advance notice will assist parents in clearing a diary slot for one of the performances.
- The next cake stall will be on Friday 29th April, and the requested charity for the proceeds this time will be Guide Dogs for the Blind.
- PTAFA plant orders will be delivered on Tuesday 28th April. If you placed an order please come to collect your goods, which can be found behind the hedge in front of the School Office block. Thanks go to all the parents who supported this fundraiser.
- Last Saturday’s PTAFA Murder Mystery was well supported by parents and staff. Thanks go to the actors, who put in a substantial amount of rehearsal time that resulted in a slick performance, and to our trusty band of parent caterers who provided their usual high standard of fare. It was a great evening!
- There is a great hope that in the same way parents rallied together at the last minute and ended up filling Sunnylands Hall for the Murder Mystery, you can perform your usual magic with our next event: the Auction of Promises, on Saturday 21st May. The deadline for offering promises is 4th May. Please, please contact us soon with ‘auction promises’ so that we are able to run this event!
